The origin of the word Albany is Scottish and is derived form the ancient Celtic name for Britain.  The Albany Range is believed to have beeen inspired by the history and architecture of Falkland Palace with its Medieval/Gothic exterior and fine Renaissance interior.  Falkland Place was once the home to the Duke of Albany and a country retreat of the Stuart Kings.
