Georgian style embraces a century under the reign of the three Georges and is often divided into early and late Georgian periods. Georgian style was one of harmony and symmetry, airness, space and light with the use of pale colour schemes and woodwork together with delicate furniture and lighting. The arrival of paraffin was a major breakthrough for Georgian lighting, Chandeliers made from brass with curved elegant arms and brass wall lights decorated with a delicate rope design were very popular especially in the grander homes in the less grand homes pewter was used instead.
